Promised

Your lips promised freedom

As you bound my soul in chains

The burden felt so heavy

I thought I'd never breathe again

Your words promised comfort

As you dug the knife into my heart

Those wounds are still open

Healing has been slow to start

Your tears promised repentance

But they were just clever lies

My eyes have now been opened

And I see through your thin disguise

Your touch promised heaven

But it was just a facade

Looking back it now is clear

There was evil in the face of "god."
